Netball success at Tadley Rally

Categories: General News

On Tuesday 31st March 2009, the 5 local schools, Tadley, Priory, Bishopswood, Silchester and Burnham Copse, contested a football and netball rally. Each school came with 2 football and netball teams and contested each sport on a league basis, with the netball culminating in a first and second place play off and a third and fourth place play off.

The football was officiated by Rob Taylor and Simon Haines, parents of children at Burnham Copse. Many thanks for their help and 'enthusiasm' on the day, it was much appreciated.

Becky Evans, plus junior leaders from the Hurst umpired the netball matches with the help of Judy Yoxall from Tadley. Again, many thanks to those who helped on the day.

Bishopswood were clear winners in the A league, winning all of their games, with Tadley coming a close second. The B league saw the winners and runners up of the A league swapping places, with Tadley winning it by 2 points.

With only 4 netball teams participating this year, the final of the A league was contested between Tadley and Burnham Copse, and the B league between Burnham Copse and Silchester. Both games were extremely tight, but in the end Tadley were victorious in the A league, with Burnham Copse winning the B league. (Well done girls! Two years in a row)

Thank you to all the children who took part. The behaviour and sportsmanship displayed was excellent. Thanks also to all the parents who came to support your child.

Roll on next year!
