Special Reporters

Special Reporters is our version of a school council.
The best people to ask what special reporters is are the children. Here are a few of their versions;
"Two children from each class are invited to discuss a subject of the head's choice." Bethany
"We pick out three things that we think are going well, three things that we could improve and three things that aren't going well." Sarah
"Each child gets a chance to speak and give an opinion." Gina
Here you will be able to find the new initiatives suggested by the special reporters as well as the meetings of the minutes.

GOLDEN EGGS AND SPLATS

Some of the older children in particular expressed their reluctance to compain of unkind behaviour at play times for fear of reprisals or being called a "tell-tale." In response to this, we have introduced an anonymous system of reporting which works like this;
Firstly, wherever possible, we encourage children to tell an adult. If they feel unable to do this, they can collect a SPLAT from a folder in the classroom and write their complaint (using a dry wipe marker) anonymously on the back (younger children can give a SPLAT to an adult and say what happened, without using names). The class teacher will then deal with the complaint as a whole-class discussion and seek to resolve the issue. When the complainant is happy it has been dealt with, they can then erase the complaint from the SPLAT.

Conversely, children can nominate others for a GOLDEN EGG award, again by writing on the back of an egg. This award is then discussed with the teacher and a mutual agreement reached as to the merit of the nomination. If awarded, the child nominated has a GOLDEN EGG badge to wear.
